Life in Defiance: My Review

Life in Defiance: A Novel (Defiance Texas Trilogy)Life in Defiance: A Novel (Defiance Texas Trilogy) is the final book in the trilogy that started with Daisy Chain (Defiance Texas Trilogy, Book 1) (my review) in which we learned that Daisy was killed and continued with A Slow Burn (Defiance Texas Trilogy, Book 2) (my review), which is the story of Daisy's mother.  Life in Defiance: A Novel (Defiance Texas Trilogy) is the story of Ouisie, Daisy's best friend's mother.  Ouisie is the wife of the minister, and she is physically and mentally abused.  She also knows who killed Daisy, and of course it takes almost the whole book for us to learn the secret.  While Life in Defiance: A Novel (Defiance Texas Trilogy) provides a satisfying end to the three-volume murder mystery, it really is much more the story of Ouisie learning about submission--what God means by wives being submissive, and what it means to be submissive to God.

DeMuth is a great writer--a top-notch storyteller and an accomplished wordsmith.  This is not one-dimensional preachy Christian fiction, but religion and the religious themes of forgiveness and redemption are obvious.  If you are anti-Christian, this probably isn't the book for you.  If you are Christian but shun Christian fiction because much of it is trite saccharine romance; trust me, this one isn't.   Grade A.

A complimentary copy of the book was provided to me for my participation in the blog tour.  You can learn more at Mary DeMuth's website.  Mary is on facebook  and on Twitter.

A list of all blog tour participants should be here.

I so agree with this, which is why Mary is one of my favorite ever authors. Glad you enjoy her as much as I do. I can't wait to read this volume!
